Goa is famous for its placid serenity and long white sandy beaches. Westerns have been flocking to them since the early 1960s. The beaches are still awash with budget travellers of all ages and degrees of affluence, there are also the Western package tourist who arrive by direct charter flights and stay at beach resorts which have sprung up in the main centers. The most popular beaches are , Colva, Baga, Calangute, Anjuna, and Miramar is were the travellers tend to congregate. If you fancy somewhere that’s less of a scene, Benaulim is an excellent choice. All these beaches are full of tourist and if you want something quieter, you’ll have to look further afield. Arambol near the Northern tip of Goa is one such place, Betul - south of Colva and Palolem which lies even further south - are two others. The beaches at Aguada, Bogmalo, Varca and Cavelossim are essentially for affluent tourist staying at beach resorts.
